People support TCWF in three different ways...

Underwriting

For as little as $15 a month, an individual or organization may underwrite a TCWF access node. The underwriter's 700x150 graphical banner is shown to wireless users, along with a link to the underwriter's web site. They are also credited on our printed instructional flyers, and here on the web site.

See the complete underwriting price list.

Underwriters are critical to keeping these free access points running continually. For additional information on underwriting, please email wifi@taar.com or call 231-947-2050.

Hosting

Hosting a TCWF access node is a big feature to offer customers, as well as a community service. If you think your business should have one, email us at wifi@taar.com for details. We are usually able to install new access points at no cost to the host. All a host needs to provide is:
  • A multiple-computer internet connection (such as an office network)
  • Space for a single computer case
  • Occasional physical access to the equipment
For this, the host receives:
  • An underwriting, and all that it includes
  • A neat new feature for their establishment
  • All the good will (and publicity) that comes with offering a public service to the community
Already have an access point for the public? Let us put one of our protective firewalls between it and your network.

We're especially interested in spaces where people would enjoy working or playing online, but any space will be considered!

Donating

TCWF uses older computer equipment to create the router/firewalls needed to safely place public wireless access on business networks. Most of this equipment is donated. We also appreciate the skills of those interested in helping with the project. The following groups have all donated equipment, expertise or other forms of support:
TCWF is always interested in old equipment, especially:
  • 200MHz, 64Megs or better computers
  • PCI ethernet cards
  • Unneeded 802.11 equipment
  • 2.4GHz antennas and accessories
You can also contribute by helping users on our discussion forum.

If you have skills or material to offer, please email us.
